How did you use media
technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Throughout the coursework for this year, I have been using a wide variety of
hardware and software to produce and upload my work. Some technology I was already competent with
using such as Microsoft Word to write drafts for my posts and Adobe Photoshop
which I had already used for my AS Media project. However there has also been some programs and
equipment that I have not used before. I
will give brief explanations of all the programs I have used and how they have
helped me out for this unit.
Microsoft Word
A word processing program that has many features but was mainly used by me
for drafting posts and spell checking them.
I have not used it for much else as I have only been using it for its
reliability as a word processor over Blogger then copying it over to there.
A website
that allows for me to upload posts reliably to the internet for display. Being a blogging website Blogger had many useful
features such as uploading pictures, YouTube videos and links making my
products easily accessible and convenient.
As well as the ease of uploading external content I can organize my blog
with labels and adjust the layout of the blog to suit my needs.
Dafont
A good
website for obtaining royalty free fonts to use for content like my movie
poster. From somebody who is not a
talented artist, I appreciated getting help from somebody else.
YouTube
YouTube is
arguably the most popular video uploading website on the internet and is
compatible with more websites than any other video playing software. YouTube allows for high quality uploads and
is easy to use making it perfect for uploading my groups’ horror trailer to.
Garage
Band
Garage band was
a program available on the mac and was used for some of the sound in the
trailer. This program was useful and
made designing music for the trailer easy, while giving access to an array of
instruments to make music myself, it also has many unlicensed music clips to
use.
Adobe Premiere Pro
This video
editing program is what my group used to develop out horror trailer. After being taught the basics we learned
about more features as we played around with our footage. This allowed us to improve our trailer with
unique effects like a dark filter, fades and cinematic sounds.
Camera
We were
supplied with a movie recording camera specially designed to record in high
definition. This allowed us to record
high quality video making the trailer look professional. With the camera we also used a tripod so that
we could film shots steadily and films different shot types smoothly and with
ease. Film some of the scenes for the
trailer I have become more adept at filming.
Conclusion
To conclude this
area of the evaluation, the hardware and software I have access to have made it
possible to change a shot list and story board in to a professional looking
trailer for a horror film. The software
has also made it possible to display my content in an organized, refined and professional
manner.
